John Alan Hulbert is an Actor, Creator, & Filmmaker that specializes in Acting, Creature Work, Dance, Masks, and Movement. He believes that storytelling is a service in which the messages of the stories we tell and leave behind us inspire the stories that live beyond us.
John Alan has been playing pretend and telling stories ever since he was 13 years old.
Born and raised in Bend, OR, John Alan is currently based in Portland, OR and travels back and forth to Los Angeles, CA for creative projects and work. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR. John Alan works in theatre, film, and immersive performance in hopes of making people’s days full of stories worth telling.

John Alan earned the Scare Actor of the Year Award for his work at the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride Live Drive-Up Experience, is an Irene Ryan Award Nominee for his work as Moritz Stiefel in Spring Awakening, and has gone viral online on TikTok making the front page of Reddit as the
Creepy Crab Walking Clown.
John Alan enjoys watching monster movies, making homemade movies of his own, and making a good cup of coffee each morning as he dances around his apartment with his cats.
